LEATHER FOR LEGENDS
Our Story
NZ Leather Craft began from a simple need to create. One day in my shed, I was looking for a new project and came across my late father’s old leather kit. I opened it up, started experimenting, and quickly discovered how much I enjoyed working with leather ,the process, the texture, and the sense of making something that lasts.
Leather has always been part of my life. I grew up around horses and farming, so the material and the tools felt familiar from the start. What began as a personal project soon turned into a genuine passion. I started making hats, wallets, keychains, and knife sheaths . Continually learning, improving, and enjoying every step.
Friends encouraged me to share my work, and after taking a knife-making course at Kōwhai Forge, I had my first real opportunity. The team there liked what I was doing, and we began developing products together for their blacksmithing students. That collaboration helped shape NZ Leather Craft into what it is today.
These days, NZ Leather Craft is still an after-hours pursuit. I work full-time as a VFM Manager at Foster Maintain, and spend my evenings and weekends creating. Slowly building a brand based on honesty, craftsmanship, and connection.
What drives me is simple: the need to create . I’m especially drawn to practical, hard-wearing designs, hunting pouches, sheaths, and everyday carry gear built to handle real use. Each piece is crafted by hand, with care and purpose, ready for years of adventures to come.
